This was a scintillating encounter with a good sized crowd down at Heywood Road. The weather was mild and the pitch was nicely playable. Caldy brought a sizeable following with them including their very vocal 2nd Team players whose match was cancelled. When Sale FC took the lead with 20 minutes remaining it looked like an unlikely win at home against a very strong Caldy team. Unfortunately, some uncharacteristic errors and a few missed decisions under pressure meant the lead was relinquished at the 68 minute mark. To add insult to injury Caldy then secured the bonus point with their fourth try with less than 10 minutes to go leaving Sale FC without a bonus point.
Saturday’s game was one of much potential which ended with a good win by Caldy who showed why they’re currently favourites to be promoted to National One.
Congratulations must also go to our Under 9’s team who managed to raise over £250 for their tour later in the year thanks to the generosity of both home and away fans.
