With no Men’s fixture on this weekend and with the Birmingham Moseley game confirmed to take place on the 12th march, K.O 7:45 @ Heywood Rd, we focus on our 1861 Ladies & Colts in this week’s preview. The Ladies have the prospects of winning the ‘National Challenge 1 NW’ League this weekend as well as our Junior and Senior Colts competing in the relevant Halbro Colts League Plate tournaments.

The ladies face Preston Grasshoppers this week. With them sitting comfortably at the top of National Challenge 1 North West it is expected that they finish the season in top seed.

1861 Starting XV

Only a few rotations in this week’s fixture. The front row introduce Hannah Wake at prop as she joins the Irish powerhouse and captain McKenna with Hannah Kurtz in at hooker. Cath Ansell and Lyndsey Dorris partner-up in the second rows whilst Charlotte Smith and Katie Walsh accommodate the flanks. Katie Ashcroft finishes of the pack at 8, with a scrum full of potential to dominate Preston Grasshoppers. Hannah Birch remains at 10 and is partnered with Fanni Kiss, a fairly new partnership which should prove lethal. Hannah has some pace and power outside her in the forms of inside centre Megan Kirby and outside centre Kathryn Craine- both in phenomenal form, looking to continue their fine style of rugby. They are accompanied by infamous try scorers Nikki Cowell and Mikala Agg who further provide some pace- finishing off some quality meat pies in recent weeks. Whilst, Jasmine Gee comes in at fullback finishing off a very strong team.
