Sale FC Executive are pleased to announce that with the continued growth of our senior teams, we have decided the time is right to appoint a Club Captain to represent all adult rugby players at Sale FC.
Club Chairman Scott Bambrick stated “we now have five senior teams at the club with over 150 players, and it is important that we have a Club Captain that can help pull everyone together under our ‘one sale fc’ banner, and more importantly be the representative for these players and a focal point within the club. We considered some fantastic candidates from across the 1st XV, Vikings and 1861 player groups and I am delighted to announce that after careful consideration, Tom Brady, will be Sale FC Rugby’s new club captain.”

We sat down with Tom to ask him a few questions about the role and his time at the club.

“What does this role mean to you TB?”

Personally I feel very proud. This club means a lot to me.
I grew up locally and played at heywood road as a 7 year old in the cheshire cup touch tournaments.
To now represent this great clubs’ 1st team with a history dating back to 1861 is an honour in itself.
It is a privilege to be asked to be Club Captain.

“Have you got a memorable moment since you’ve been at the club that made you feel connected to the clubs community?”

Bringing my daughter to the M&Js is where I saw the depth of togetherness and commitment that this club has in its members and volunteers. Within minutes someone found a spare pair of little boots and some socks for her. Elizabeth held her hand and made her feel comfortable as a new sale fc player.

This is just an example of exactly what you see every weekend across all age groups and levels at this club. To see kids playing on a Sunday who were at heywood road cheering for us on a Saturday makes me feel very connected to the club.

“As the club captain how do you plan to strengthen the bond between the players, coaches and passionate supporters?”

As Club Captain I plan to bridge the connection between the 1st team and the Minis & Juniors. Heywood Road with Carrington. Some Mums, Dads, Boys & Girls who train and play on Sunday at Carrington have never been to Heywood Road!
I plan to have our senior teams of Male and Female players much more involved with the training sessions and development of our juniors.
I will also bring a younger and more broad perspective of the club from what will be 5 senior teams being represented in the exec committee.

Tom has been a fantastic servant of the club and already volunteers as a member of the ‘House Committee’ as well as being involved with M&J activities. As part of his role as Club Captain, Tom will sit on the ‘Executive Committee’ as a coopted member, representing all senior rugby players as well as forming closer links between senior players and M&Js as well as club members.  I am sure you will join me in congratulating Tom on his appointment to this role, when you next see him”

Tom will feature in the pre season fixture against Macclesfield on Friday 16th August next week. Get your tickets for the first hit out here.
