Sale FC Rugby are delighted to announce the signing of James Mitchell ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Mitchell arrives with a wealth of experience at the highest levels of the English game, having played Premiership rugby, winning the Championship title with Jersey Reds and represented England at U20 level. Rugby runs deep in the family too… his brother currently plays for the full England side (Alex), giving Mitchell a background steeped in the sport at the very top.
Speaking on his move to Heywood Road, Mitchell explained what drew him to the club:
“Speaking with Keepy and the coaches it was clear that the club have big ambitions to take the club forward with some really exciting plans. Also looking forward to learning from this great coaching group.”
On what he’ll bring to the squad, Mitchell was quick to point to more than just his performances on the pitch:
“I’m excited to contribute on and off the field where I can, whether that’s putting in good performances and supporting the younger lads in the squad. Also really looking forward to getting involved with the wider club community.”
And in typical Dogs fashion, he had one last thing to add:
“Woof.”
Mitchell joins a squad building serious momentum ahead of the new campaign, which kicks off on September 5th. Everyone at Sale FC Rugby extends a huge welcome to James — time to join the hunt.
