Unfortunately 1st team Hooker, Ted Stagg has been forced to retire after a neck injury at the start of the season.
Ted featured in the 1st 4 games of the season at Hooker after signing permanently for the 2024/25 season following his loan from caldy in the 2023/24 season where he featured 16 times.
Ted has put his body on the line every time he stepped onto the field and has been a leader within the side bringing his experience from championship rugby and 100s of national league appearances.
Ted Wanted to say:
“After 30 years of blood, sweat, tears and love for the game its time to close this chapter of my life.
Unfortunately due to a neck injury it’s time for me to step away from the game. Whilst it’s not how I wanted to go out, I’m proud of everything I have achieved over the years.
This amazing sport has truly shaped who I am today, and it has taught me some amazing lessons that I will carry with me for life.
There’s too many thank yous to list, but to my family, friends and teammates, I will be forever greatful for the support on and off the pitch.
I will always be greatful for how everyone at Sale accepted me from minute one, despite upsetting a few of the lads while playing for Caldy over the years
I have made some friends for life through rugby and particularly at Sale. Sale FC is a great club steeped in history and tradition and I have loved every minute of being a dog.
Once a dog, always a dog
Staggy”
We want to wish Ted good luck in what comes next and hope to still see him involved with Sale FC Rugby in the future.
Once a dog, always a dog…
