Sale FC 1861 celebrate title win at Heywood Road
It is not the way they wanted to finish the season but in the end, it mattered little that their final league game of the campaign was called off at the eleventh hour, as the Sale FC 1861 players and coaches celebrated winning Women’s Championship North 2 on Saturday.
Spurred on by the disappointment of narrowly missing out last season, the players have had a truly magnificent campaign, putting teams across the North to the sword.
Based on a beast of a defence and an incisive and potent attack, the women have swept all before them to achieve the ultimate goal.
Those who have been down to Carrington to watch the team throughout the season will know the blood, sweat and tears (literally on occasions!) that have gone into this brilliant achievement.
Rest up coaches and players. You have been absolutely superb and the club is immensely proud of you. We can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings.
