Rugby returned to Heywood Road last night as Sale FC 2 took on Stoke on Trent Rugby club in a spirited and fast flowing game of rugby with superbly taken tries from both teams.
Final Score was 32-21
The largely development Sale FC team had a huge mix of experience and youth in the game last night. With Ex- Sale Sharks, Wasps and Northampton Saints player Chris Mayor returning to competitive rugby at Heywood Road for the first time since last September. Director of Rugby Jonathan Keep playing the full 80 and returning to Heywood rd, ex-Sale FC captain John “Blanny” Blanchard also put in a big shift. At the other end of the spectrum of experience we saw the first real glimpses of what Jonty Rawcliffe (from Knutsford Rugby) can do at Full Back with a massive boot and hard running. We also saw John Blanchard Jr. turn out for team last night, John was part of the first wave of children who started minis and juniors at Heywood road as a 10 year old along with Tom McBride who played last week. There was also a number of players who have come through the Sale FC Colts as well.
There will be a full write up later in the week.
