Sale cut loose to down Clifton

On a beautifully bright but breezy afternoon, Sale returned to the Morson Stadium for the first time in a month to take on Clifton.
The game started well for the hosts as vibrant attacking rugby saw the ball moved wide for winger, Nev Edwards, to score after only 6 minutes. 5-0
Sale lost Evan Mintern to a yellow card for a high tackle a minute later but, despite some quick hands in the backs, the visitors were unable to take advantage.
Possession and territory were fairly even until the Dogs scored two tries in 5 minutes before the break through skipper, Andy Hughes and back row, Alfie Longstaff; Joe Green converted the latter. HT 17-0

The second half saw Sale run riot with clean break after clean break in the midfield. Ollie Davies ran in unopposed after James Robins cut through, before the jet-heeled Freddie Reader scored under the posts; Joe Green on target on both occasions. 31-0
Three tries in six minutes from James Robins, Toby Wilson and replacement, Sean Street, put the win beyond doubt and Robins put the icing on the cake in the final minute with his second. FT 57-0
Sale keep the pressure on at the top with just 7 points between the top four, whilst Clifton will be looking nervously over their shoulder as 11th to 14th are separated by only a point.
