Sale take victory in 9-try thriller

Sale FC and Tonbridge Juddians headed to the Morson Stadium on the back of convincing wins the previous weekend.

The Dogs made a fast start and were 14-0 up after 9 minutes with tries from scrum half, Joe Green, and hooker, Josh Brown, both converted by the former.

The visitors bounced back in the 17th minute as back row, Vincent Everitt, scrambled through the defence to score and Connor Lloyd added the extras.

Sale, for whom prop, Dan Birchall, was making his 200th appearance, grew their advantage again 7 minutes before the break as centre, Fergus Mulchrone galloped into acres of space before offloading for fly half, Ollie Davies, to scamper in; Green again on target HT 21-7

The first score of the second half went to the Dogs with Mulchrone again the provider for Davies and Green continued his perfect afternoon from the tee.

If the blue and whites thought they were home and dry, the dangerous visitors blew that theory out of the water as 3 tries from Lloyd, Thomas Kendrick and Thomas Mannix made it a 2-point game with just under 20 minutes to play.

The decisive moment came in the 72nd minute when the Dogs hammered at the opposition try line before flinging the ball wide for Mulchrone to barge his way over.

Sale lost Stone Priestley-Nangle to a yellow card for a deliberate knock on as TJs pushed for a late leveller, but the home side held on to take the bonus point win. FT 33-26
