Park leave it late to overcome Sale
High flying Rosslyn Park headed to the Morson Stadium looking to cement their place at the summit of National One against a Sale side looking to bounce back from their first defeat in a while.
The Dogs made the perfect start when Joe Green kicked a penalty from 20m but Park were soon in front with tries from Charlie Piper and Steffan James, the first converted by the latter. 3-12
Another Green penalty got Sale back within a score and the arrears were reduced further when Josh Brown benefitted from a strong catch and drive from 7m. 11-12
Sale took the lead in the 30th minute as a wraparound move saw Fergus Mulchrone send a looping pass to Tom Walsh who somehow managed to wriggle his way to the line. 16-12
However, the visitors responded with a try out wide from Charlie Walker to lead at the break. HT 16-17
The Dogs started the second 40 on the front foot and took the lead when Alfie Longstaff crashed over from another rolling maul before Green made it 3 penalties from 3. 24-17
Back came Park with a try through Luke Mehson and then, in the dying embers, Ben Marfo dived over in the corner to win it for the visitors. FT 24-27
An entertaining game between two good sides that could have gone either way but, ultimately a win for Rosslyn Park to stay top of the league.
