Sale secure bonus point win against DMP

After taking 11 points from the last four games against the top sides in National One, Sale looked to continue their recent revival as they faced bottom of the table, Darlington Mowden Park, at the CorpAcq Stadium.

The game started well for the Dogs and they were ahead as early as the 4th minute when Josh Brown was propelled over the line following a strong catch and drive; James Robins converted. 7-0

The momentum continued to be with the blue and whites in the early stages and they extended the lead in the 18th minute when good carries from James Robins and Tom Brady saw the scampering Tom Walsh released to weave his way to the corner. 12-0

The Sale backs looked devastating with the ball in hand at times and scored a fine try in the 31st minute through Fergus Mulchrone after some superb offloading near the touch line; Robins added the extras. HT 19-0

The visitors came out with renewed energy after the break and reduced the arrears just four minutes into the half as they moved the ball quickly for fly half, Junior Newton to ghost through a gap to score; Garry Law made no mistake from the tee. 19-7

The Dogs survived more pressure before securing a bonus point in the 62nd minute with Mulchrone picking up his second of the game from close in; Robins was again on target. 26-7

The visitors continued to give everything but Sale put the icing on the cake two minutes from time with Nick Gray spotting a gap and galloping away to score under the posts; Home debutant, Will Davies, completed the scoring with the kick. FT 33-7

A convincing win for the Dogs to ease themselves away from the wrong end of the table before next week’s Friday Night Lights against Birmingham Moseley.
