Park run not enjoyable for Dogs
It was 7th v 8th at the CorpAcq stadium on weekend six of National League 1 with both Sale FC and Rosslyn Park aiming to close the gap on the leading sides.
Park made the perfect start in the 3rd minute, winning a 5m lineout and then driving to the line for prop, Conrad Cade, to dive over. Fly half, Joshua Bragman added a fine conversion. 0-7
Sale responded seven minutes later with an almost identical try through hooker, Josh Brown, only for the away side to repeat the feat on 15 minutes with their own hooker, Isaac Miller, crashing over. Bragman was on target again. 5-14
The visitor’s defence was proving a tough nut to crack but the Dogs closed the gap in the 32nd minute with a superb try from winger, Obi Ene, who dived over athletically in the corner after being released by Mark Dixon. 10-14
Park lost second row, Jordan Martin, to a yellow card in the 38th minute and Sale took full advantage with Josh Brown grabbing his second try from the back of the rolling maul. HT 15-14
The away side struck back almost immediately in the second half as scrum half, Charlie Mulchrone, escaped the clutches of the blue and white defenders to touch down. 15-19
Winger, Charlie Walker, extended Park’s advantage in the 50th minute as he ghosted through a gap to score under the posts after a period of pressure. Bragman kicked the easiest of conversions. 15-26
Sale had threatening periods but made errors at crucial times, one such mistake allowing Bragman to add a penalty kick from 15m. 15-29
The solidity of Park’s defence continued to frustrate the Dogs and the West Londoners put the game to bed in the 74th minute when an errant pass was picked up and offloaded for centre, Matt Gordon, to blast in. FT 15-34
A disappointing day at the office for the boys but we move on quickly and look forward to our trip to the North-East to take on the other Park next week.
