This weekend Sale FC 2 take on Lymm 2. Both teams are on level points with Sale FC 2’s being ahead on points difference. The league this year has been a massive plus for Sale FC Rugby giving our younger players much needed experience of Senior rugby and making sure our larger squad gets game time in what is a very competitive league.
Sale FC 2’s 47 Preston Grasshoppers 2’s 15
On a wonderful Autumnal Saturday afternoon here at the CorpAcq Stadium, it was the turn of the second team to entertain Preston Grasshoppers in the Cotton Traders Premier League. With the home side having started the season with a mixed bag of results, they were looking to get back to winning ways against a youthful Hoppers side who had only won one of their last four games this season.
It was they who opened the scoring early on, with just two minutes on the clock when Sale were adjudged to have left their feet at the ruck. Hoppers decided to go for goal on this occasion with the impressive No.9 Jobe Roxby taking the three points on offer giving Hoppers the early lead in the match.
However, this lead was only to last for another five minutes before some excellent interplay between the forwards and backs saw Sale take a real hold of the game and cement the advantage in their favour, thanks to the hard work of Ryan Parkinson who was able to offload after being tackled to Captain Ben Simpson who went in under the posts. Match Report– Sale FC 2 34 Caldy 52
With the weather set fair for this fixture, it found itself leading to fast expansive game of rugby, that as it turns out would be a try fest for all to see at the CorpAcq Stadium. From the off Sale were definitely on the back foot, with the Caldy players running the hard lines looking to set up scoring opportunities for the visitors.

This Friday and Saturday we have two big events on at the stadium. On Friday from 9:30am we have our Macmillan Coffee Morning to support and aid the Macmillan Cancer Trust. Then on Saturday with a 3pm KO Sale FC 2’s take on Caldy 2’s where Caldy will be looking to gain revenge for their 1st Team’s narrow loss a few weeks ago. The bar is open from 2pm and entrance is free.
Tomorrow night we have a game scheduled for Heywood Road.
Sale FC 2 will take on Durham University 2. This is a great chance to get down to Heywood Road and watch some of the up and coming players play. KO is 7:45 and entrance to the ground is free.
