Another great game of rugby and almost a fantastic comeback, but The Dogs have to make do with 2 points from their travels.

We’re underway at Volac Park as The Dogs play into a stiff breeze in the first half.

Cambridge start the game with fixed intentions as the first penalty of the game is sent to the corner, 20m out.

But it’s the Dogs who celebrate first with a wonderful break from Jonty Rawcliffe with fine support play from Patrick Ah Van and Fergus Mulchrone, releasing Jack Moorhouse to sprint in, 6 minutes gone. The Blood and Sand respond well as the ball is moved along the line to their speedy No.11 who darts in for a try

With a penalty nudged through from the opposing fly half and a try scored, Cambridge increase the deficit 19 minutes into the game making it 17-5, however with this, the game begins to settle, and the on-field battle begins.

It’s only 15minutes later when The Dogs string together their first attacking platform in a while, and, after winning a 5m lineout the forwards batter the line before Matt Talaese gets over.

The Dogs begin the second 40 well as Chris Johnson kicks off high into the blue sky, with The Dogs immediately on the front foot with only a forward pass halting them in their tracks.

Great carries from Patrick Ah Van and Johnny Leota takes the Blue and Whites close, the ball is offloaded for Rhys Davies to scamper in- 49minutes.

The Blood and Sand hit back again as they go through phase after phase, eventually crossing for their 4thtry

Another Try, a fine finish from the home sides full back as he collects a kick on halfway, weaving his way through the defence ranks to score

The match is quickly getting away from The Dogs as the Blood and Sand score another try from incisive attacking play.

10 minutes left- can the dogs salvage more than just a solitary point in the dying embers?

74’ The Dogs have a lineout 35m out.

76’ TRY after winning the lineout The Blue and White move the ball quickly, Tom Brady makes a half break then offloads brilliantly for Jonty Rawcliffe to stride in. Johnson adds the extras.

Cambridge 37-31 Sale FC
