Buoyed by returning to winning ways the previous week, Sale FC travelled to the capital to take on a London Scottish side who had been in fine form recently.
Sadly, the Dogs were caught cold right at the start of the game as winger, Alex Earnshaw, scored after only 45 seconds. 5-0
However, the blue and whites bounced back just 3 minutes later, Nev Edwards scoring out wide, before a catch and drive took Wills Austen over the line; James Mitchell converted. 5-12
Sale extended their lead 5 minutes before the break with Andy Hughes showing superb upper body strength to breach the defence; Mitchell was on target again. 5-19
But the hosts had the last say of the half with Connor Moyse chasing his own kick through to score; Will Butler added the two. HT 12-19
The Dogs were straight on the front foot at the start of the second period and Arthur Scrase grabbed the bonus point try after only 5 minutes. 12-24
Undaunted, back came Scottish, closing the gap through a converted Yandall try before surging in front with a second try for Moyse. 26-24
What followed next was an incredible tit for tat 20 minutes of rugby with the two sides exchanging converted tries at will.
First, skipper Hughes plunged through for his second, only for Moyse to complete his hat-trick for the hosts. Pete Vickers then crashed in as the forwards bombarded the whitewash again before Jake Spurway barrelled over. 40-38
With the game firmly in the balance, Sale had the final say when fast, free-flowing rugby from the backs released Joe Green to sprint in and Mitchell’s fifth conversion of the afternoon sealed the bonus point win. FT 40-45
Another high-scoring, crazy game of rugby in National One with the Dogs coming out on top to keep in touch towards the top of the table.
