The Dogs headed to Cornwall to take on 3rd place Camborne in their first meeting since 1968, when club legend, Richard Trickey, was in the first XV.

Sale survived early pressure from the Cornishmen and took the lead in the 9th minute when Oli Longmore was propelled over the try line by the pack. 0-5

The hosts responded just over 10 minutes later when prop, Jon Drew, crashed through a gap to score with fly half, Fraser Honey, adding the extras. 7-5

In the 30th minute, Longmore pealed off the back of the rolling maul to grab his second, converted by Joe Green, only for Sam Matavesi to respond with a converted try for Camborne. 14-12

The teams traded further 7 point scores just before the break with Archie Scrase cutting down the blindside of a ruck to score for the Dogs, before Jago Sheppard crossed for the hosts. HT 21-19

A moment of magic from “Town” at the start of the second half saw Dan Roderick earn them a try bonus point, but the tit-for-tat nature of the game continued as Nev Edwards scored out wide after sustained pressure done the pack. 26-24

Despite Herbie Stupple being shown a yellow card for the hosts in that last play, the Cherry and Whites cut loose again through the middle for Sam Matavesi to make it a double and Honey’s excellence from the tee looked to have taken the game beyond Sale. 33-24

Undaunted, the Dogs struck again, replacement, Josh Brown, picking up and burrowing over after Tom Walsh was stopped just short of the line. 33-29

Try as they might, Sale could not make late pressure pay and, with the rolling maul stopped just short of the whitewash, the ref’s arm went in the hosts favour to end a great game. FT 33-29
