Chairman’s Chat

Welcome to Heywood Road, for our game against Plymouth Albion RFC, in what is the start of three consecutive home games for the 1st XV. We hope that that we have the same levels of support we experienced at our last home game, where a large crowd cheered the lads to victory against Cambridge. At that game we sold out our pre-match meals upstairs in the suite.

The House Committee are working hard to ensure that the match-day experience is fantastic for all and today we see the launch of our annual ‘Bottomless Brunch’. We hope this will also be attractive to club members and visitors. Next week we have an M&Js pre-match meal, where all the ‘minis’ can eat free, so parents bring along the kids and help create a fantastic atmosphere for the lads as they take the pitch. Tickets can be purchased here. I know that Jonathan Keep and the players love the atmosphere, that the kids help to create.

Our commercial link up with our new kit suppliers SUPRO has seen us launch our new brilliant looking home and away kits, bringing in record sales for the new home version. For those looking to purchase club leisurewear we have fantastic new lines available at our online shop.

I would like to thank Dream Doors, Philadelphia Scientific, M33 Emporium, Urban Splash, BeeManc and Stanley Square for coming on board as club partners for the 2021-22 season. Each partner plays an important part in ensuring that we can plan for the season ahead to help the club grow on and off the pitch. If you would like to become a club partner, contact Peter at Peter@salefc.com .

Tomorrow we have the Colts kicking off at Carrington at 1:00pm in a local derby against Altrincham Kersal. The lads had a fantastic win away last week at Southport and Mark Roberts his players will be looking to take that good performance into tomorrow’s game. The new club house Bar will be open from 12:00pm and staying open after for the Sharks away game. Why don’t you pop down to Carrington and see the lads play on the main show pitch.

Good luck also to Sale 1861 as they kick off their league campaign tomorrow away to Didsbury ToCH. Next Sunday that are playing at Heywood Road, where we are launching our first ‘Club Sunday Carvery’ of the season, so if you like good food, excellent rugby and maybe even a cheeky Malbec, details will be found here .

Can I ask that members and visitors be courteous and respectful to staff and volunteers, if any member needs to raise any points with the club, please seek out an Exec member to talk to on match day. Without the hard work of our volunteers and staff, this historic club could simply not operate the way it does. I would like to extend our thanks to our fantastic team of volunteers and staff, some of whom are dining with us pre-match today. We will be inviting more hard-working volunteers to dine as club guests throughout the season.
I hope you have a great day and we get win.

See you in the bar!
