Sale Sharks and Sale FC Rugby Women’s Team

Sale FC Rugby and Sharks create ‘Sale 1861’ Women’s Rugby Team

On the back of the announcement yesterday relating to Sale FC Rugby and Sale Sharks working closer together, both clubs are proud to announce the creation of ‘Sale 1861’ Women’s rugby team.

This newly formed team will play under the banner of both clubs as can be seen by the name. The team will have its home at Heywood Road, whilst taking advantage of excellent facilities and coaching on offer from both clubs.

The creation of a women’s team in Sale has been a priority for Michelle Orange (wife of Sale Sharks co-owner Simon) for some time and along with Linda King they will act as a patrons for the team.

“this team is a clear indication from both clubs that they want to do all they can to help develop women’s rugby. We want to see a successful, well organised, properly funded and supported women’s team that represents both clubs. Whilst at the same time offering a pathway to adult rugby for all the young girls in the area, who are currently playing mini and juniors rugby. Both Linda and myself are excited to be patrons and cannot wait to see the team run out for their first game at Heywood Road and we invite fans of both clubs to get behind the team.”
