Esher RFC came to Heywood Road and the CorpAcq stadium for the first time ever on Saturday. Given Esher’s struggles this season, Sale FC could have been expected to come away with five points. Unfortunately we literally threw that away with two intercept tries and a wayward throw on our own line. These mistakes left us with too much to do in the final twenty minutes and although we had Esher on the ropes, it was not only too late, but it wouldn’t have been the correct result if we had beaten them. Our two bonus points are gratefully received, but we were fortunate in some ways to be allowed back in the game at 44-17 down. In a game in which Sale managed to score 6 tries and still lose, it’s evident that if we want to do well in this league, we will need to cut out mistakes. The rest of the match report and video highlights will be out on Monday.
