After a year playing for Sale Jets Mark was promoted to the senior squad and became the Premiership’s leading try-scorer in 2001/02, his first season after making his debut against Bristol Rugby. He has now amassed 69 Premiership tries in 148 matches spanning just over nine seasons. Only Steve Hanley, his former Sharks’ teammate, with 75, has scored more. Mark superimposed his first-class league form on the international field, reaching the 40 cap landmark against Australia last summer and has subsequently built on this, becoming a regular in the England line up.
