Touch Rugby will be held on each Saturday morning at Carrington with a 10.30 start. The first session will be on Sat. 26th May.

All current players, and those interested in joining the Club next season are welcome to come along and join in. For new players this will be a taster to see the excellent set up we have at Sale F.C. whilst at the same time getting to know some of the current players from all our sides.

To get to the training centre leave the M60 at Junction 8 to follow the A6144 towards Carrington. Go through the first set of traffic lights and the training ground is on the left hand side of the road approx. 200 yards further on, and the entrance is opposite a lay-by.

Dear Member,

This has been a momentous season. 18 months ago the club was facing extremely difficult times and a bleak future. Hard decisions led by our Chairman Steve Smith were debated and made. These decisions although not popular in every area have to date proven to be successful. The performance of both our 1st and 2nd teams has been fantastic. They have both been runaway winners of their respective leagues and gained promotion as well as winning their respective knockout tournaments. Congratulations to the teams their coaches, the managers and Richard Boundy the Director of Rugby.

Thanks too to the intrepid Decimvirate of fans who attend both the home and away games. Particular thanks to Neil Thallon for his weekly reports, Barry for his musical taste although his love of Kashmir is a little hard to understand. The first team margin of victories is a National and European record, all victories by a bonus point and no bonus points against. The 3rd XV is on its way too.

Please get out there in the local community and advertise our success. Word of mouth and local pride is part of the way forward.

The junior section organized by Mike Boyle has also been very successful both on and off the pitch. The junior section are leading the way in terms of restoring the club atmosphere and creating a family friendly environment. Squash too has had an element of re-organization and this part of the club is also progressing nicely thanks to Sheila Crane. Her keenness in representing the interests and concerns of the squash fraternity is something to be admired. A much valued member of the Executive committee.

There is still much to do and decisions to be made both on and off the park. Major decisions, should they be required, will be placed before the membership. The future of the club is on the up, the role of the Executive is to ensure a safe future both in playing terms as well as financially. We are aiming to escalate through the divisions and to truly establish ourselves as the premier semi-professional club in the region and be associated with the Premiership side Sale Sharks. In addition, what one would hope is that we can somehow regain the principle of playing for the Club or shirt for these are the surest ways of achieving long term stability at Sale F.C., as it will help attract players and supporters to the club.

To advance up the leagues the standard of rugby and facilities will have to continue to improve. There are already signs as to what we can easily achieve as reflected in our 46-29 victory over the Anti-Assassins team which consisted largely of division one and two players. Wherever you can, please encourage friends and family to come down. In general, the bigger the crowd, the happier people are.

Once more, congratulations to all the teams and all the coaches, managers, ground staff, bar staff, and all the volunteers who are helping to progress Sale F.C.

Finally, a big thanks to Harold Stanley (and Ruth), who has been our Club President for the last 4 years. Both Harold and Ruth have been outstanding supporters of the Club over many years and it is expected that they will continue to do so.

	Dr.R. A. Smith

	Hon Secretary

2nd XV win Cup Final and secure 100% season

Our 2nd XV finally concluded their season with a 15-14 victory in the Raging Bull Final against Caldy 3's at Stockport to ensure that they have gone through the campaign with a 100% record.

Caldy took the lead with an early penalty but we responded just after the mid point of the first half with a Phil White try and outstanding conversion from Dave Bolton. Ciaran Connolly added a second try and a Bolton penalty saw us 15-3 up and looking good, but Caldy came back with their only try of the game on the stroke of half time.

Two further Caldy penalties in the second half reduced our lead to a single point with just over 10 minutes remaining and eventually the side produced some excellent work in the closing minutes of the match to keep Caldy penned in their own 22 to secure victory by the narrowest of margins.

PERFECTION

For the first time in 151 years Sale F.C. 1st XV has gone through a season with a 100% winning record.

This milestone in the long history of the Club was achieved in front of our biggest attendance of the season and culminated in the current squad scoring the highest number of points and the greatest number of tries we have scored in any match. The icing on the cake was that we won all our league games with a try-scoring bonus point in each one to reach the maximum possible total on 130 points, whilst preventing our opposition teams from gaining any bonus points at all. A remarkable achievement at any level of the game.

This has been a fantastic season with some magnificent rugby played by the squad and our congratulations go to Director of Rugby Richard Boundy, the coaches, players and support staff who have worked so hard over the last eleven months.

Nor do we forget our 2nd XV who will complete their league season next Saturday at Heywood Road and who are also looking to complete a 100% season having won the league some weeks ago.
