Rotherham Titans Match Preview- Final Fixture of the Decade!

The squad features an abundance of experience as the Director of Rugby announces a strong side to face Rotherham Titans in our final fixture of 2019

SATURDAY 21st DEC 2019

K.O. 2pm @ Heywood Rd.

Christmas Special

Chris Johnson has been phenomenal off the boot

Jonathan Keep, DOR, provides his thoughts ahead of this highly anticipated game:

“The squad are really excited for the game, looking to turn over Rotherham after losing in our away visit early on in the season. It was early days then when we had quite a new squad together at the time, the team have come along way since then. We know it will be a physical encounter against Rotherham, but, the players have had a great week of training- looking forward to do what they can this weekend. Not too many changes to the side, with Jarad Williams returning from injury and Anthony Bingham holding his spot on the wing”.

The squad features little changes with, as Jonathan mentioned, only Jarad Williams and Anthony Bingham return as the squad bulks more experience heading into a highly anticipated game.

The front 3 remain unchanged with; Dan Birchall, Ollie Longmore and Matt Talaese remain, whilst, Jake Pope and Dan Matthews look to make significant impacts off the bench.

The second row remains unchanged since last weekend. Rhys Davies remains at 4, whilst Nick Gray remains in the starting side after impressing on return from injury . Stone Priestley-Nangle starts on the bench, providing some additional physicality to an expected intense fixture. Andrew Hughes (captain) partners with Jarad Williams this week as they rekindle in training this week, preparing for a massive game. They hold 7 and 8.

Matt Bradley holds 9 after producing some dynamic performances in recent weeks, whilst the consistent Chris Johnson remains at 10. Emiliano Calle Rivas looks to inject some pace off the bench as a versatile back.

James Williams returns to the side at 12, after a few weeks with The Sale Jets, continuing an impressive run of form as he hopes to pick up another win this week, after beating Leicester Tigers – 16th Dec. He partners with Fergus Mulchrone at 13, who continues to have a great season.

Anthony Bingham returns after a  period away, a familiar face to many of our fans. After scoring last weekend, he looks to build on a great return. Patrick Ah Van remains on the opposite wing- he showed his quality with a sublime finish last weekend. Tom Brady shifts to fullback for the first time this season with Jonty Rawcliffe featuring on the bench, with plenty of pace to add.

A strong squad looking to build on a disappointing couple of weeks after losses to both RAMS and Bishop Stortford, coincidentally producing the same result, 26- 19. A show of complacency has crept into the squad, dominating both fixtures in opportunity, possession and territory. With time their worst enemy as they leave too little too late. After a strong week of training they look to make amends, with a squad capable of being clinical at crucial moments of the game.
