On a magnificent sunny day at Heywood Road, Sale looked to continue their flying start to this years league campaign against Tynedale. Sale looked intent on playing an expansive game from the off with both forwards and backs linking well from early on. After some good play from Moorhouse and Johnson, Mayor was put clear on the right hand side and screeched in to score, Mcgovern duly added the conversion. Mayor was immediately replaced sustaining a hamstring injury.

With some superb handling again from Sale, Tynedale were struggling to keep up with the pace of the Home sides game, Stelmaszec was influential through out resulting in Moorhouse crossing and Mcgovern adding the conversion . With continued pressure, tynedale received a yellow card for continual infringement’s and with the extra man trying to force the play, Moorhouse cheekily intercepted and scored his second, Mcgovern added the points for a 21 – 0 score after27 mins.
After good play by tynedale they were awarded a penalty and duly converted to get on the scoreboard. Sadly for Adam Aigbokhae who was in imperious form, he looked to have sustained an arm injury, later confirmed as fractured. Tynedale tried to get more into the game but the additions to sale this year seems to proving crucial with some patient rugby and defence. This allowed Johnson to dictate play with Mcgovern and Moorhouse being a constant threat. The forwards were now on top and with tries from Barker and Birchall the game was out of sight with bonus points in the bag. Mcgovern yet again added the points. Tynedale did hit back with a try of their own but the game was rounded off with a superb Crossfield kick , straight of the training ground into the arms of Postlethwaite who jinked inside and out and finished superbly, conversion was added to offer a final score of 45-13. Well done to the lads.
