From the M60 you can take one of two junctions, J7 if you are travelling from the Bolton side of Manchester, and J6 if you are travelling from the Stockport side.
If you choose J7, follow the signs for A56 Altrincham. Keep following this road until you see a pub called 'The Vine' on the left. Turn left at the traffics lights on to Marsland Rd (A6144). Follow this road through the lights (Brooklands Metro Station on your right), the Heywood Rd turning is approx. 400yds on the right, before 'The Little B' pub.
If you choose J6, turn left at the bottom of the motorway slip road and through the traffic lights. At the junction (give way) follow the road to the left but move quickly in to the right hand lane following the road round to the right, then move in to the left hand lane and carry straight on. Straight across the roundabout, be aware of speed cameras in this area, and Heywood Rd is after 'The Little B' pub on the left.

From the M60 you take J8 and follow any signs for Carrington/Partington/Lymm. Go through the lights at the junction and after approx. 250yds there is a gate on the left before a bus stop (it is sign posted). It is easy to miss especially in the dark so beware!
If coming from the Lymm side, travel through Partington and Carrington, past the Windmill Pub and through the lights. Beware of the speed cameras on this section of the road, there are two in close proximity. Just at the apex of a corner and just behind a farm building there is the entrance, it is even easier to miss the lane from this side, so again beware!
It is not a very good place to exit from on to the main road, especially if you want to turn right, so be extremely careful.
